No overinflated egos to deal with. New students don't feel like they are being "sized up" when they come to sit in on a class. Just a real sense of family all around. Armando is firmly rooted in the philosophies and principles of Helio and also has a full understanding and appreciation for the inevitable and continuous evolution of JIu-Jitsu as a sport. The full self defense curriculum is taught by Mr. Basulto and he also offers Vale Tudo training for anyone interested in expanding their training to other areas. Extremely knowledgeable of the art and a great teacher. The club is full of great people who are very patient with each other and beginners. It is just a very laid back atmosphere. I have been training with Armando since the early days of the club here in Western North Carolina (started in 2008), and have loved every session. Armando is a great, patient instructor.
